Collections
Something that is unique about North Cascades National Park Complex is that most of its museum collections are held a repository known as The Marblemount Curation Facility which also holds collections for other parks such as Ebey's Landing National Historic Reserve and San Juan Island National Historical Park. When the collections are combined, there are a total of over two million objects. All of the different items can be categorized into three main groups which are natural history, cultural resources, and archival collections. The natural history collection consists of biological and geological specimens such as mosses, liverworts, lichens, and hornworts that all come from the Skagit River. Prehistoric as well as historic objects can be found in the cultural museum section. Valuable information about Native American life is provided by the prehistoric objects. Exploration and settlement of the North Cascades Area is told through historic artifacts. Many things are included the archival category like drawings, maps, records, and thousands of documents.
